LVA, Legacy, SWCTA earn accolades in San Diego

The Southern Nevada Society of Journalists would like to congratulate the students of Las Vegas Academy, Legacy High School and SWCTA for their earned recognition at the JEA/NSPA San Diego Conference.

Las Vegas High School’s Shannon Sneade was named the Nevada Journalist of the Year.

Legacy earned a 9th Place ranking in the “Yearbook (224 pages or less)” Best-in-Show category.

SWCTA earned an NSPA Online Pacemaker and 1st Place ranking in the “Publication Website – Small School” Best-in-Show category.

SWCTA also competed in the JEA Writeoffs contest.

Matthew LaPorte is the current adviser of the Southwest Shadow online news site and The Howl yearbook at Southwest Career and Technical Academy. He is also the co-President of SNSJ. One of his goals as a founding member of SNSJ is to help create a network of students and advisers who can share their expertise and share the benefits of participating in scholastic journalism in Southern Nevada. When he is not working, Matt enjoys heading off to The Pearl or to The Joint to relive his teenage years rocking out.
